Children create their own projects in Scratch to demonstrate what they have learned both about fractions and about programming. The teacher first reviews with children what coding blocks they have learned to use. Then children plan their project with the planning sheets, before continuing on to create the program. In addition to the base project, children may choose to work on the extension activity that challenges them to use more advanced blocks to change the background, add sound, and so on. If time allows, students can invite their peers to interact with and/or remix the program they have created.
Children plan and create a number story about fractions.
Children create an animated story in Scratch using previously learned coding blocks.
